Cookie Policy
What cookies we use and why
Effective date: 23 March 2026
1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device by your web browser. They help websites remember preferences and improve your browsing experience. Local storage is a similar browser feature that stores data locally without transmitting it to the server on every request.
2. Cookies We Use
| Name | Type | Purpose | Duration | Category |
|---|---|---|---|---|
site_lang |
HTTP cookie | Stores your preferred language so pages load in the correct language on return visits | 30 days | Strictly necessary / Functional |
3. Local Storage We Use
| Key | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
bnl-theme |
Remembers your light/dark theme preference | Persistent (until you clear browser data) |
bnl-cookie-consent |
Records that you have acknowledged this cookie notice | Persistent (until you clear browser data) |
Local storage data is not transmitted to our servers. It stays entirely in your browser.
4. Third-Party Cookies
We do not use any third-party cookies. There are no analytics trackers, advertising pixels, social media widgets, or embedded content that sets cookies on our site.
5. Do We Need Your Consent?
Under the GDPR and ePrivacy Directive, strictly necessary and functional cookies that are essential for the website to operate do not require opt-in consent — only clear information, which this policy provides.
Since we only use one functional cookie (site_lang) and no tracking or advertising cookies, we do not display a cookie opt-in/opt-out mechanism. The cookie banner on our site is informational only.
6. How to Manage Cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and Security → Cookies
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies
- Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Privacy → Cookies
Blocking the site_lang cookie will not break the site — pages will default to English.
7. Changes to This Policy
If we add new cookies or change how we use existing ones, we will update this page and the effective date above.
