About David
David J Gilligan is the founder, President and CEO of Blue Note Logic Inc. Based in Kongsberg, Norway — a town with a long lineage in defence technology and precision engineering — David brings a rare combination of systems engineering discipline and entrepreneurial instinct to the AI infrastructure space.
Education & Foundation
David studied at the University of South-Eastern Norway (USN) in Kongsberg, earning his MBA alongside a grounding in systems engineering. USN sits at the heart of Norway's technology corridor — the same ecosystem that produced Kongsberg Gruppen, Kongsberg Digital, and the NorwAI research centre at NTNU. That environment shaped David's approach to technology: engineer it properly, own the infrastructure, and never outsource the parts that matter.
Career Trajectory
Before founding Blue Note Logic, David built a career across telecommunications, IT consulting, and systems architecture. His background spans BSS/OSS platform delivery, enterprise systems integration, and the kind of large-scale programme work where a missed dependency costs months, not hours. That experience — understanding how complex systems actually fail in production — is what informs the way Blue Note Logic builds today.
He also founded Gilligan Tech, an AI and IT consulting practice focused on real operations rather than proofs of concept. The motto — "AI and IT for real operations" — became the DNA of everything Blue Note Logic would later ship.
What He Built
David is the sole architect and primary engineer behind the entire Blue Note Logic product ecosystem:
- CorpusAI — A private document intelligence platform running 72B parameter models on bare-metal GPUs. David designed the semantic embedding pipeline, the citation engine, the tenant isolation layer, and the WireGuard mesh that connects it all.
- KaaP Exchange — The knowledge marketplace model with 80/20 creator revenue split. David designed the billing architecture, cross-corpus query system, and the curation workflow.
- Do Better Norge — A multilingual family rights advocacy platform vibe-coded in a single weekend using Claude Code 4.5, Cursor, and a fleet of AI creative tools. Now being integrated with CorpusAI for a Norwegian family law corpus.
- Trivia & Tunes — A live entertainment concept in the Kongsberg area, because not everything has to be about neural networks.
How This Fits Blue Note Logic
The systems engineering background means David thinks in dependencies, failure modes, and integration points — not features and roadmaps. The MBA means he understands unit economics, go-to-market timing, and the commercial discipline needed to turn infrastructure investment into recurring revenue. And the fact that he still writes code daily means the distance between strategic decision and production deployment is exactly one person.
Technical Footprint
- Infrastructure: Specified, procured, and deployed NVIDIA RTX PRO 6000 Blackwell bare-metal servers across Hetzner Helsinki and Nuremberg
- Models: 72B parameter (reasoning/legal), 32B (code generation), 27B (classification) — all running on owned hardware
- Platform: Full-stack architect of CorpusAI — from PostgreSQL schema to React frontend to WireGuard mesh
- Security: Designed cryptographic tenant isolation, GDPR-compliant architecture with zero third-country transfers
- Speed: Shipped Do Better Norge (full multilingual platform) in 48 hours; KaaP Exchange from concept to production in under 3 weeks
