Do Better Norge
Family rights advocacy platform — multilingual legal resource hub for Norwegian families
Research Origin
Do Better Norge is a family rights advocacy campaign founded by Dave Gilligan during a personal five-year family law case in Norway. When legal costs became unsustainable, Dave turned to self-representation — and discovered that the real barrier was not legal complexity, but information access.
From Thesis to Platform
While pursuing an MS in Innovation & Technology Management, Dave identified the core insight: Norwegian court decisions, statutes, and EU directives are publicly available, but practically inaccessible to ordinary people. This became the foundation for his master’s thesis and the first CorpusAI deployment.
What Was Built
- 4,754 Norwegian legal documents indexed — court decisions, regulations, and EU directives
- The dobetter-norge-v2 model: Qwen 2.5 7B fine-tuned via QLoRA on 7,603 Norwegian legal Q&A pairs
- Citation-backed answers linking to specific paragraphs and source documents
- Multilingual query support — Norwegian and English
Why It Matters
Do Better Norge is where CorpusAI was born. It proved that a single person with the right AI tools could build something that makes specialised knowledge accessible to people who need it most. The same architecture now powers the commercial platform.
